Missionary Month

At church today they announced it was MISSIONARY MONTH. I used to have these glamorous visions of traveling around the world, deep into Africa and China and spreading the WORD of God. That is truly a noble cause and is needed.
But today’s sermon reminded me that I need to be a “Missionary” right here where God placed me. I am right where I am supposed to be. My mom always told me to “blossom where I bloom” which I never understood until much later. It meant I can serve my Lord where ever I am. I can choose to be a Missionary today. I have the opportunity to share my faith with everyone I come in contact with. That is one of the reasons I started this JESUS CHRIST BLOG.
But being a Missionary right here can be as simple as being kind to people, smiling, asking and offering prayers, generous donations, sharing your faith when the opportunity presents itself; as simple as saying you BELIEVE. I am a sinner. And as a sinner if I share my struggles, my trials, my faith and my intention to do the right thing, I believe that is what God expects me to do. I also believe that people can relate to my words even more when they know I am a sinner. We all are.
Below is an quote used today in the sermon from a missionary who gave their life for what they believed in. I was moved by this quote because I believe I have found what she alludes to in Jesus Christ.
“I hope you come to find that which gives life a deep meaning for you; something worth living for - maybe even worth dying for; something that energizes you, enthuses you, enables you to keep moving ahead. I can’t tell you what it might be - that’s for you to find, to choose, to love. I can just encourage you to start looking and support you in the search.”
