Caylee’s Memorial Service

You might have seen the little girl, Caylee’s, Memorial Service today from Orlando. Caylee was allegedly killed by her mother who is now in prison.  It was a very moving and emotional day as the Grandfather, Grandmother and Uncle spoke eloquently.

But the one phrase that one of the minister’s said caught my attention. He said (paraphrased):

“Jesus, I worship  and praise your Name not because I understand all the things that happen in my life, but because I know YOU do.”

That phrase seemed to put such an incredibly tragic event into perspective when there is no clear understanding or reasoning why such a thing could or should happen. Embracing this thought may be the only way people of faith can cope and deal with tragic loss.

We have been told that we will not be given a cross that is too great for us to bear as long as we draw on our faith to help us through it. But when we have no answer for what has happened and all we can feel is anger, pain and sorrow, we are left really with no alternative but to “Praise God not because we have the answer but because we  know HE does.”
